Ingredients

Serves 1 serving
  • 1 blockfirm tofu
  • 2 piecespork cutlet (hire katsu)
  • 1/2onion
  • 1/3 cupsukiyaki sauce (75 ml)
  • 3 1/2 tablespoonswater (50 ml)
  • 1 teaspoonsugar
  • 2eggs
  • 2 teaspoonssugar

Steps

    Peel the onion and remove the core. Slice thinly, about 1–2 mm thick.

    Cut each store-bought pork cutlet into 6 pieces.

    Crack the eggs into a bowl, add the sugar, and beat well until combined.

    Add the sukiyaki sauce, water, and sugar to a frying pan.

    Add the sliced onion and turn on the heat. Cook until the onion is soft and browned.

    Push the onion to the side of the pan and arrange the tofu, cut into bite-sized pieces, in the pan. Spread the cooked onion over the tofu.

    Cover and warm the tofu over low heat.

    Once the tofu is heated through, place the cut pork cutlet pieces on top of the tofu. Pour the beaten egg mixture evenly over everything, then cover the pan.

    When the eggs are softly set, it's ready to serve. (Cook the eggs to your preferred doneness.)
