Okra Miso Soup (with Lots of Okra)

Thank you for making this recipe popular on 2015/04/11! I was really craving a miso soup with lots of okra and a rich bonito flavor, so I created this recipe based on what I imagined. I wanted to enjoy okra in miso soup, so I tried making it just the way I pictured.
Steps
- 1
Thinly slice plenty of okra. If you have a small pack of tofu, use that; otherwise, cut 1/2 block into cubes.
- 2
Bring the water to a boil, then add the dashi granules, tofu, and okra. Let it simmer briefly.
- 3
Turn off the heat and add the miso. Since the soup is thick, it’s easier to dissolve the miso by ladling a little soup into a bowl, mixing in the miso, then returning it to the pot.
- 4
Add the bonito flakes either directly to the pot or to each serving bowl before pouring in the soup. (The photo shows the bonito flakes added directly to the pot.)

On 2016/06/10, this recipe became popular again! Thank you so much for all the feedback and support!
