Steps
- 1
Use 1 package of edamame in pods. For this recipe, I’m using dadacha-mame (a type of edamame), but any edamame works.
- 2
Rinse the edamame thoroughly under water. Scrub the pods well to clean them.
- 3
Sprinkle 1 teaspoon of salt over the edamame and rub it in well. Since this salt directly affects the flavor, I recommend using a good quality salt. I use coarse salt.
- 4
Arrange the edamame in a single layer in a skillet or frying pan over medium heat. If they overlap a little, that’s fine—just try not to pile them up too much.
- 5
Cover with a lid and steam-roast for 5 minutes.
- 6
Flip the edamame and steam-roast for another 5 minutes.
- 7
They’re ready to serve!
