Steps
- 1
Make soft-boiled eggs.
For an easy, perfect soft-boiled egg, see ID20137680 on cookpad.com. - 2
I used a small egg. If you use a large egg, the rice ball will be much bigger! If you want a more dramatic rice ball, go with a large egg.

This time, I used an extra soft-boiled egg (almost runny) using recipe ID21551838 on cookpad.com.

Place the seasoned egg on top of the rice and shape it into a rice ball.
- 9
You can use plain white rice, but if you do, lightly sprinkle salt over the rice before wrapping it with nori.
- 10
Wrap the rice ball completely with nori (seaweed).
- 11
Tip: After wrapping with nori, wrap the rice ball in plastic wrap and let it sit for a while so the nori softens. Then, cut it in half while still wrapped (thanks to KBB for this tip).
- 12
Cut the rice ball in half. Enjoy!
