My French-Canadian grandmother passed this recipe down to me, and it's the sweetest thing in the world!

Mix together the maple syrup, vanilla and baking soda in a bowl, then pour into pie crust

Now mix the flour, brown sugar, and nutmeg in a large bowl and sift well. You can run this mixture through a sieve to prevent brown sugar clumps.

Add the soft (or melted) butter to dry ingredients. Mix well and knead into the shape of the pie shell, add on top of syrup mixture.

Bake at 375F (190C) for 30 minutes. Allow to cool before eating otherwise it will still be a bit soft in the middle. Enjoy with tea and vanilla ice cream!
