Ingredients

  1. 2.2 lbsgrape leaves (1 kg)
  2. 1 1/8 lbsshort-grain rice (about 2 1/2 cups or 500 grams)
  3. 3.5 ozfinely ground beef or lamb (about 100 grams)
  4. Pinchwhite pepper
  5. Pinchcumin
  6. Pinchblack pepper
  7. Lamb chops, as desired

Steps

  1. 1

    Boil the grape leaves until tender.

  2. 2

    To prepare the filling:
    Rinse the rice thoroughly.
    Add the ground meat.
    Add salt and spices, then mix well.

  3. 3

    To season the lamb chops:
    Add a pinch of salt, white pepper, and black pepper.
    Drizzle with a little vegetable oil.
    Mix well and set aside.

  4. 4

    Stuff the grape leaves with the filling and roll them up until all the filling is used.

  5. 5

    Place the lamb chops at the bottom of a large pot.
    Arrange the stuffed grape leaves on top.
    Place a plate over the grape leaves to keep them in place, then pour in enough water to cover them.
    Bring to a boil over high heat.
    Once boiling, reduce to low heat and cook until fully done.
