Cooking Instructions
- 1
Mix 6 cups of water to gumbo seasoning and add sausage
- 2
Let it start to simmer while you prepare the chicken. I cut my chicken into small diced chunks. Then I place them in a ziploac bag and add Cajun seasoning and shake it.
- 3
I then add butter to a skillet, and add the chicken until it’s no longer pink on the outside, then I mix the chicken and butter in with the sausage and gumbo seasoning and water.
- 4
Then I let the gumbo simmer for about 15 -20min and then I toss the shrimp in the skillet that I cooked the chicken to get it warm and a little caramelized, and then mix it with the rest of pot of deliciousness.
- 5
Let it cook for about 15 more minutes and have your rice cooking while the gumbo is simmering
- 6
Then place rice in the bowl and then the gumbo on top. You can add herbs if you like with some toasted bread.then enjoy!😊

My husband asked for Gumbo for his bday...one problem I've only made it a couple times and wasn't too impressed with the recipes. Sat down and started studying recipes and wrote my own for trial. It blew me away how well it turned out! His bday is the day after Thanksgiving so it will be made with turkey when it rolls around.Note I served jalapenos on the side instead of cooking in and served the Gumbo to my kids as is wasn't overly spicy. Cajun Gumbo Cajun Gumbo
"Cajun" style – Gumbo, uses no tomatoes. However all gumbos starts with the basic “holy trinity” (onions, peppers, & celery), a good stock, and various meat, fowl, and shellfish. The key is to make a roux and add okra or filé powder as a thickening agent. Adjust the ingredients and seasonings to your liking and “Laissez les bon temps rouler” [Let the good times roll!] Rick M -
