Homemade waffles

Waffles are a delightful breakfast treat! They come in various styles, from classic to Belgian, and can be topped with a wide range of delicious options like fresh fruit, whipped cream, syrup, or even savory toppings like fried chicken.

If you’re interested in making some at home, then this Homemade Waffle recipe is made with simple ingredients and is light and crispy on the outside, soft and fluffy on the inside. They are quick, easy to make from scratch.

This recipe takes about 25 minutes and includes ingredients like flour, cornstarch, baking powder, baking soda, sugar, salt, vanilla, oil, buttermilk and eggs.

Start by whisking dry ingredients together, then whisk the wet ingredients in a separate bowl. Then, whisk the wet ingredients into the dry until only tiny lumps remain in the batter.

Set the batter aside for 10 to 20minutes. When your waffle iron is ready, add enough batter to fill the lower grid, close the lid, and cook until crisp and golden brown.

For the skewer waffles, cut the waffle to desired size and shape and thread it on the skewer along with fresh fruit.
Homemade waffles last in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 5 days. Alternatively, they can be frozen in a single layer on a baking sheet, transferred to freezer bags, and then frozen for up to 3 months.
The best way to reheat waffles is in a toaster oven or bake in a 350°F oven for a few minutes.
