Masoor Dal with Tempered Spices
Masoor dal (red lentil curry)
Steps

In a pot, add water, all the powdered spices, and salt. Bring to a boil.

Once the water is boiling, add the masoor dal. Cook until the lentils are soft.

For the tempering, heat oil in a pan. Add all the tempering ingredients and cook until dark brown. Pour the tempering over the dal, or add the dal to the tempering in the pan.

Garnish with a little fresh cilantro on top. Serve this dal with rice or roti.
