Growing tomatoes in England often results in lots of green tomatoes due to frost/blight. This is a great way to use these up, and lush with barbecued meat, cheese & sandwiches.

Growing tomatoes in England often results in lots of green tomatoes due to frost/blight. This is a great way to use these up, and lush with barbecued meat, cheese & sandwiches.

Wash the tomatoes and blend slightly till coarsely chopped. Salt with 2 tsp salt, then drain in a sieve for 15 minutes.

Peel and roughly chop the onion. Coarsely blend the peppers, jalapenos, gherkins and onions.

Mix the blended ingredients together in a bowl. Add the mustard seeds, tumeric, black pepper, dill seeds, celery seeds, sugar & vinegar.

Heat to boiling, then simmer for 5 minutes.

Seal in sterilised mason jars. Boil in jars for 15 minutes if keeping over a month.
