Steps
- 1
First of all, make sure to fry the dumplings. Set aside for later use. This is the first step towards the preparation of this dish. It's a must. Do not add the dumplings to the curry without frying.
- 2
In a kadahi, heat oil. Add asafoetida and the ginger garlic green chilli paste. Fry it for a few seconds. Then add the onion. Saute it well until browned. Also add the tomatoes and saute until nicely done and mushy. Add the powdered spices too.
- 3
And then finally the potatoes too. Cover and cook for about 6-7 minutes on a low so that the potatoes are no longer raw. Next add the fried badi or the lentil dumplings.
- 4
Adjust the spices. Also add the chopped coriander leaves. Give it a good mix and cook on a low for further 7-8 minutes. Cover and cook. Keep stirring in between. It gets done pretty much quickly.
- 5
Serve it piping hot alongside both Rice and Rotis at mealtimes. The curry is semi thick and not very runny. Therefore it goes well with any Indian Bread as well. Enjoy!
