Ingredients

4 servings
  • 1 cupred lentils
  • 1 tspsalt
  • 1/4 tsphing
  • 1/2 tsphaldi powder
  • 1 tspgrated ginger
  • 1 tspdesi ghee
  • 4 tbspdesi ghee
  • 1/4 tsphing
  • 1/2 tspjeera
  • 1/2 cupchopped onion
  • 1 tspchopped green chilli
  • 1 tspminced garlic
  • 1/2 cupchopped tomato
  • 1/2 tspsalt
  • 1/2 tspkashmiri red chilli powder
  • 1/2 cupchopped dhania patta
  • 1 tbspdesi ghee
  • 2dry red chilli

Steps

30 minutes
  1. 1

    Wash dal, soak in water for 1 hr, strain it, add in a pressure cooker, in goes 2 cup water (adjustable), hing, salt, haldi powder, ginger, green chilli & ghee, place the lid.

    Give 4 whistles on high flame, lower the flame, cook it for 2 minutes. Turn off the flame, allow it to depressurise naturally, open the lid after 5 minutes, mix dal, keep aside.

    Take a wok or pan, add ghee, heat it. In goes hing & jeera, let it splutter. Add in onion & green chilli, stir fry it until light brown.

    Now add garlic, stir fry it until rawness is released.

    In goes tomato & salt, mix it well, cook it for a minute.

    Add in kashmiri red chilli powder, mix it well, sprinkle lil water, cook it until tomato turns a lil mushy.

    Now add cooked dal, mix it well. Add in dhania patta, mix it well, give a boil. Simmer it for a minute.

    Turn off the flame, take out in a serving bowl, keep aside. Take a tadka pan, add ghee, heat it, fry dry red chilli, pour it over dal, mix it while serving.
