Chicken and daikon simmered dish is a healthy and comforting Japanese meal. It's made with simple ingredients like chicken, daikon, and basic seasonings, and the flavor soaks deeply into the daikon, making it very tasty. It's low in calories, rich in nutrients, and well-balanced with protein and fiber. This dish goes perfectly with rice, and it tastes even better the next day, so it's great for meal prep too. #CA2025 #japanesecuisen

Ingredients

2-4 servings
  1. 6Chicken drum
  2. Daikon (Japanese white radish)
  3. ★2 cup of water
  4. ★3 tbsp soy sauce
  5. ★3 tbsp mirin
  6. ★2 tbsp sake
  7. ★1 tbsp sugar
  8. ★Slices ginger
  9. Chopped green onion (to taste)

Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

Heat vegetable oil in a medium pot and cook the chicken drum.

  2. 2

Cut daikon thicker and peel it skin. If you cut the daikon while turning it, you can peel the daikon roundly and safely. Cut Daikon radish into half-moon shape

  3. 3

Place the daikon on top of the chicken. Add 2 cups of water. That water can be regular water, but using the water that comes out when rice is washed will enhance the sweetness of the daikon. Add rest of ★(3 tbsp soy sauce, 3 tbsp mirin, 2 tbsp sake, 1 tbsp sugar, Slices ginger) Make sure they are covered at least halfway. If you're not, add water until cover them up.

  4. 4

Simmer over medium heat for 40 minutes. Gently mix things around in the pot to let the flavor soak through everything. If you leave it in the fridge overnight, the daikon will soak up even more flavor and taste even better.
