Ingredients

Serves 5 servings
  • 2/3 cuplow-fat milk (about 150g)
  • 2/3 cupheavy cream (about 150g)
  • 1/4 cupgranulated sugar (about 50g, adjust to taste)
  • 2large eggs
  • Store-bought Portuguese egg tart shells

Steps

  1. 1

    Pour the milk into a saucepan and heat over medium heat until it comes to a boil, stirring constantly to prevent burning.

  2. 2

    Once the milk boils, add the heavy cream and granulated sugar. Stir and heat until the sugar is completely dissolved.

  3. 3

    After the sugar has dissolved, add the two eggs and mix well. Turn off the heat.

  4. 4

    Once the filling is ready, pour it into the Portuguese egg tart shells. Bake in the oven at 400°F (200°C) for 35 minutes. For a crispier texture, bake for an additional 5–10 minutes or increase the oven temperature as desired.
