Microwave Chocolate Mug Cake 🍫 ☕️

There are a bazillion mug cake recipes out there, but some yield a cake that is stodgy or unappetizing. I should know because I’ve tried a few. 😜 This recipe consistently yields a cake which is chocolatey, light, and fluffy. The best part is that it fully cooks under two minutes in a microwave! And it’s so easy that my six-year-old daughter is capable of making it! It makes enough cake for 2 people. Or, y’know… one very hungry person. 😁
If you are craving chocolate cake on the fly, give this recipe a go!

Steps
- 1
Gather the ingredients.
- 2
In a small bowl, combine all of the dry ingredients. Whisk to combine.
- 3
In a separate bowl, combine all of the wedding ingredients. Mix well.
- 4
⭐️Note that if you don’t want to dirty too many bowls, you can start by combining the liquid ingredients in a large mug, and then add the sifted dry ingredients to it. However, by combining the dry and wet ingredients separately, you can ensure that the batter is adequately mixed before cooking.
- 5
Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and stir gently.
Stir in the mini chocolate chips if you choose to use them.
A few small lumps in the batter are fine. Pour the batter into a large mug.
The mug should have a 2 cup capacity. If you don’t have a mug that is large enough, you can use a cereal bowl. - 6
Microwave the mug, uncovered, at full power for 1 minute and 45 seconds.
- 7
Let the cake cool for a few minutes before digging in.
If you have any leftover cake, store covered at room temperature for up to one day. Note that the cake will dry out slightly, so it is best to eat it fresh. - 8
This cake is surprisingly moist and fluffy! If you like, you can top it with a little bit of powdered sugar or whipped cream, but it is quite delicious on its own. Enjoy!
