🍱 One-Pan Tofu Stir Fry🍱

“Better than take out” tofu stir fry!
Whenever I crave Chinese food but don’t feel like ordering out, I put together this easy and delicious stir fry. It pairs great with white rice or noodles. This recipe is suitable for those following a vegan diet.
Feel free to add other veggies like carrots, snow peas or broccoli.
Notes:
* Add corn starch last. Before adding, pour some of the stir fry sauce in a separate bowl and mix in corn starch until well combined. Then pour it all back into the mason jar and shake well. This prevents the corn starch from lumping up and mixing unevenly.

Steps
- 1
Start by assembling all ingredients and pressing tofu for 7-10 minutes in a tofu presser or under a heavy object.
- 2
Heat up 1/3 cup of oil in a pan. In a bowl, add tofu (already cut and pressed), 2 tbsp of corn starch and a pinch of black pepper. Gently shake with a lid until all the tofu pieces are coated with corn starch.
- 3
Once the oil is hot, add coated tofu pieces and fry on each side until lightly golden (3-4 min per side). Remove from pan and set aside.
- 4
In the same pan, add red and green bell peppers (or jalapeño) and stir fry, mixing often, for 1-2 minutes. Then cover and let it cook until softened. (about 2-4 minutes)
- 5
As the peppers are cooking, mix all stir fry sauce ingredients listed in a mason jar and shake well. Read notes on how to incorporate corn starch.
- 6
Once the peppers are nice and tender, add tofu back in the pan. Lastly, add stir fry sauce and mix well. Let the sauce cook and thicken (about 2-3 minutes)
- 7
Sprinkle 1tsp of sesame seeds and serve warm along some white or yellow rice. Delicious! 😋
