Ingredients

  1. 5potatoes
  2. 1beetroot
  3. 1/2 cupboiled chickpeas (about 80 grams)
  4. 1/2 cupboiled kidney beans (about 80 grams)
  5. 1/2 teaspoonsalt
  6. 1/2 teaspoondried mango powder (amchur)
  7. 1/2 teaspoonchaat masala
  8. 1/2 teaspoonroasted cumin powder
  9. 1/2 teaspooncoriander powder
  10. 1 teaspoonred chili powder
  11. 1 tablespoonrice flour
  12. 1 tablespooncornstarch (or arrowroot)
  13. as neededButter
  14. Tomato ketchup, for serving

Steps

  1. 1

    First, boil the potatoes and beetroot in a pressure cooker for 3 to 4 whistles. Let them cool slightly, then peel the potatoes and place them in a bowl.

    Peel the beetroot and grate it. Coarsely grind the boiled chickpeas and kidney beans in a blender or food processor.

    In a large bowl, mash the potatoes. Add the ground chickpeas and kidney beans, all the spices, rice flour, and cornstarch. Mix everything well to form a dough.

    Shape the mixture into balls and flatten them into patties. Heat a nonstick pan, add butter, and cook the tikkis on both sides until golden and crispy.

    Your tasty, healthy, hot beetroot tikkis are ready to serve.

    Place on a serving plate and serve with tomato ketchup.
