Wash and soak tur dal for 10 minutes. Drain off the water. Now add in 1 diced onion, tomato, green chilli, haldi, chilli powder, salt and water. Cook the dal to 4 whistles on fast gas and then for 3 minutes on slow gas. Meanwhile, ready all the other ingredients.

In 2tsp ghee add rai. When it splitters, add jira and other tempering ingredients. Now add in chopped garlic and sliced onions and cook until golden red.

Add in little chilli powder and mix. Take out some tadka aside for the garnish. Now add tamarind water and bring to a boil.

When the pressure in the cooker subsides, open and churn the boiled dal. Add into the pan.

Mix in hot water if needed. Mix and check if any masala Or salt is required. Bring to a boil for 5-7 minutes. Lovely, NUTRITIOUS PROTEIN-RICH DAL is ready.

Garnish with the reserved tadka and coriander. Serve with steaming hot rice and enjoy taste and Protein-power. Happy Cooking 😊!!
