Ingredients

15 min preparation time and 12 min cooking time
2 - 3 persons
  1. For poha mixture,
  2. 1 cup poha
  3. 1 cup curd
  4. 1/3 cup water
  5. For the semolina mixture,
  6. 1 cup rava,
  7. 1 cup curd
  8. 1/3 cup water
  9. 1 level tsp salt,
  10. 1 tsp Eno fruit salt + 1 spoon oil
  11. For tadka
  12. 2 tbsp oil
  13. 1/2 tsp mustard seeds
  14. one pinch asafoetida
  15. 2 green chilies
  16. 1 tsp chana dal
  17. 1 tsp urad dal
  18. 1 inch ginger
  19. few spring curry leaves

Steps

15 min preparation time and 12 min cooking time
  1. 1

    Add water in poha and soak for 10 minutes in a bowl

  2. 2

    In another bowl, add water in rava and let rava soak for ten minutes.

  3. 3

    Add curd to both rava and poha separately and mix well.

  4. 4

    Heat oil in the tadka pan. Add mustard seeds, chana dal, urad dal, asafoetida, chopped green chilies to prepare tempering.

  5. 5

    Take a big bowl and transfer both the poha and rava mixtures and add salt, tempering, and grated ginger. Mix properly.

  6. 6

    Place idli patra (idli mould) on gas with water on high flame, let the water boil.

  7. 7

    In the poha idli batter, add the mixture of oil and Eno frit salt. Mix it lightly.

  8. 8

    Grease the idli mold with oil and add spoonful of idli batter in the moulds.

  9. 9

    Place the idli mould in a steamer and steam the idlis for 10-12 minutes.

  10. 10

    Remove the idli stand and cool for a few minutes. Demould the idlis for serving.

  11. 11

    Serve cottoney soft. spongy idlis with coconut chutney.
