Candied Orange Slices🍊🍊

Bright, beautiful, and bursting with holiday cheer, these candied oranges are the kind of treat that make you look like you’ve been planning for weeks—even though they’re wonderfully simple to make. Each slice is simmered until it turns jewel-like and glossy, with a perfect balance of citrusy zing and sugary sweetness. They’re stunning on their own, dipped in chocolate, or tucked into gift bags as a thoughtful homemade present that feels both classic and luxe.
And the best part? You’re left with a gorgeous orange-infused simple syrup that’s pure liquid gold. Drizzle it over desserts, shake it into cocktails, or stir it into morning recipes for a pop of bright, sunshiney flavor. It’s a two-for-one holiday delight: a beautiful edible gift and a syrup that keeps the celebration going long after the oranges are gone.

Steps
- 1
Slice oranges into 1/4" thick rounds.
- 2
In a large pot, combine 4 cups sugar and 4 cups water. Bring to a simmer.
- 3
Add orange slices. Simmer on low for 30 minutes, turning occasionally. (be careful not to overly crowd, multiple batches are best)
- 4
Remove slices and place in a dehydrator at 125°F for 6-7 hours until firm but tacky.
- 5
Dust slices with extra sugar, then return to dehydrator for 1 more hour.
- 6
Store in airtight jars. Save the leftover syrup for drinks or desserts.
Tips
Using a variety of oranges adds color and flavor. The final sugar dusting gives the slices a classic candied look.
Save that sugar syrup! It is an amazing orange-flavored simple syrup that can be used to flavor cocktails and teas, or can be reduced and used as a drizzling syrup for pancakes, waffles, ice cream, or cupcakes!
