  • 8 piecesRui mach (Rohu fish)
  • 2string Dhanya patta (Coriander leaves)
  • 4Kaccha lonka (Green chillies) – chopped/slit
  • 1Peyaaj (Onion) – sliced or chopped
  • 4Rosun (Garlic) – paste or chopped
  • 1/2Ada (Ginger) – paste
  • 1/2tdp Holud (Turmeric powder)
  • 1 tspLonka gura (Red chilli powder) – optional
  • 1 tspJeere gura (Cumin powder)
  • 2 tbspSorisher tel / Sada tel (Mustard oil or cooking oil)
  • 1/2 tspLobon (Salt)
  • 1/2 tspGorom moshla (Garam masala) – optional
  • 1 cupJol (Water)

Steps

  1. 1

    Marinate the fish:
    Rub the Rui (Rohu) fish pieces with salt and turmeric. Keep aside for 10–15 minutes.

    Fry the fish:
    Heat oil in a pan and lightly fry the fish pieces until just golden. Remove and keep aside.

    Prepare the base:
    In the same oil, add onions and fry until lightly brown. Add chopped carrot it is optional

    Add ginger and garlic paste and sauté for 1–2 minutes. Add spices:
    Add turmeric, (optional) red chilli powder and cumin powder.
    Cook well, adding a little water so the spices do not burn.

    Make the gravy:
    Add water as required and salt to taste.
    Once the gravy starts boiling, gently add the fried fish pieces. Final touch:
    Cook for 5–7 minutes. Add green chillies and chopped coriander leaves.
    Cover and cook for another 1–2 minutes.

    Serve hot with steamed rice. 🍚🐟
