Oven-Baked Mackerel Skewers — Better Than BBQ!

A simple, budget-friendly, and incredibly tasty way to cook mackerel in the oven. The fish turns out juicy and aromatic thanks to a quick marinade with soy sauce, honey, garlic, mustard seeds, and lemon juice. These mackerel skewers are a great BBQ alternative — no grill needed.

Steps
- 1
Soak the wooden skewers in cold water for 15–20 minutes (do this at the very beginning).
- 2
Clean the mackerel, remove the insides, rinse well, and cut into portions.
- 3
Finely chop the garlic and mix it with honey, mustard seeds, lemon juice, and soy sauce.
- 4
Thread the mackerel pieces onto the skewers.
- 5
Pour the marinade over the fish on both sides and let it rest for a few minutes.
- 6
Spoon the remaining marinade on top for a nice golden crust.
- 7
Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (350°F) for 25 minutes.
- 8
Serve hot and enjoy the amazing aroma!
