Steps

Pressure cook toor dal and moong dal with water until soft, then mash well.

Crush cumin seeds, black pepper, and garlic together using a mortar and pestle to make a paste.

Heat ghee in a pan, add the cumin-pepper-garlic paste, curry leaves, and dried red chili. Sauté until aromatic.

Add the cooked dal to the pan, mix well, and add more water to reach rasam consistency.

Add salt and bring to a gentle boil for a few minutes.

Turn off the flame, add lemon juice, and mix well.

Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot.

Tips
Adjust the amount of lemon juice to taste for desired sourness.
