Wash and soak whole moong for 3 hours. Boil moong in a cooker by adding required water, pinch of salt and turmeric powder.

Next for tempering heat oil in a Kadai. Add mustard seeds, cumin seeds and asafoetida.

Add dry red chilli, curry leaves. Saute it well.

Add chopped ginger, green chilli and tomato.

Add required salt saute for 2 minutes. Whisk boiled moong. Add in a Kadai.

Add 1.5 cup of water. Then add kokum, jaggery and salt. Add red chili powder and cumin coriander powder.

Boil moong dal curry for 5 minutes. Sprinkle chopped green coriander. Serve with steam rice. It's very delicious.
