Ingredients

  • 1 CupToor Dal Pigeon Pea / (boiled)
  • 4Onions Small (chopped)
  • 1Tomato (small in size, chopped)
  • 2Chillies Dried Red
  • 2 ClovesGarlic (chopped)
  • 1/4 TeaspoonTurmeric Powder
  • 1/4 TeaspoonMustard Seeds
  • 1/4 Teaspooncumin
  • 1 TablespoonSunflower Oil
  • 1 TablespoonGhee
  • To TasteSalt
  • 1Curry leaves Stalk
  • 1/4 CupWater

Steps

  1. 1

    Heat the oil in a medium size pan and add mustard seeds. After splattering, add cumin, curry leaves, chopped small onion and saute till onion becomes transparent.

  2. 2

    Add chopped tomato, chopped garlic, sliced dried red chilies and saute for a minute.

  3. 3

    Then add water, turmeric powder, salt and boiled toor dal / toorvaram paruppu / pigeon peas. Cover the pan and let small bubbles rise for the mixture.

  4. 4

    When it gets thicker, add ghee. Serve it with chapati / Dosa or Plain Rice.
