Ingredients

30 mins
4-serving
  • 1/2 kilochicken
  • 3 nosonion sliced
  • 2 nostomato sliced
  • 1 inchginger
  • 4 nosgarlic (big)
  • 5 noschilies green slitted
  • 10 nosshallots
  • 1 tsppepper crushed (1/2+1/2)
  • 1 tspchillipowder red (1/2+1/2)
  • 2 tspskashmiri chili powder
  • 2 tspscoriander powder
  • 3/4 tspturmeric powder (1/4+1/2)
  • 1 tspgaram masala (1/2+1/2)
  • handfulcurry leaves
  • to tastesalt
  • as requiredoil
  • coriander leaves for garnishing
  • 1/4 cupwater warm
  • 1 tspLemon juice
  • 2 tspsginger+garlic shallots + crushed
  • 1/2 tsppepper powder
  • 1/2 tspred chilli powder
  • 1/4 tspturmeric powder
  • 1/2 tspgaram masala

Steps

  1. 1

    Crush ginger, garlic, and shallots. Half of this is taken for marinating chicken along with lemon juice, pepper powder, red chilli powder, turmeric powder, garam masala & salt. Keep aside for 15 mins.

  2. 2

    In a pan heat oil and add sliced onions along with curry leaves. Cook until onion turns brown in color.Now add rest of the crushed ginger, garlic, & shallot mixture and cook till the raw smell goes.

  3. 3

    Add all spice powders  and saute it for one minute. Now add tomatoes and green chilies. Cook until oil starts appearing.

  4. 4

    Add the marinated chicken to the pan and mix well with the masala. Add 1/4 cup of water.You can add salt if needed. Lower the flame to medium and cook till the chicken is done and the gravy thickens.(optional-if needed you can add coconut milk at this stage)

  5. 5

    Garnish with coriander leaves.

  6. 6

    Serve hot with plain rice/roti
