Jelly and custard triffle with apples

Extremely easy. Strawberry Jelly and vanilla custard. Set in the fridge. I added some stewed apples to the custard to give it a 'healthy' touch :) for the child in all of us!

Make the jelly as per the instructions on the packet

Leave to set in the fridge

After the jelly sets, start work on the custard

Keep the yolks in a dry bowl. Beat well with the sugar

In another small bowl, mix the cornflour well with some water and set aside
- 6
Boil the milk and the vanilla essence in a sturdy pot
- 7
When the milk boils, add slowly to the egg yolks-sugar mixture, while continuously whisking
- 8
Return this mixture to the burner and simmer on low heat

Add the cornflour and cook until the mixture becomes thick. This may take up to 7 - 8 mins.

Pour the custard onto the set jelly.

Arrange the sliced apples on top if required.

Once cooled, return to the fridge. Chill until set.
