Ingredients

5-serving
  • 1/2 CupMasoor dal
  • 2 numbersgreen chilli
  • 1/4 TspTurmeric powder
  • 1 TspRed chilli powder
  • 2 tspsoil
  • 1 tspmustard
  • 1Onion (chopped)
  • 5 clovesgarlic (crushed)
  • ginger small piece (crushed)
  • 1Tomato (chopped)
  • 1/4 cupcoconut Grated
  • 2 1/2 cupsVegetable stock Water or
  • curry leaves few

Steps

  1. 1

    Wash Masoor dal well and Pressure cook in 2 1/2 cup of (water or vegetable stock) for 4 whistles. Strain the excess water and Mash the cooked dal

  2. 2

    Heat oil in a pan. Add mustard and let it splutter. Add onion and saute till onion turns translucent. Add crushed ginger and garlic and saute well. Add tomatoes and green chilli and saute till tomatoes are completely cooked. Add turmeric powder and chili powder.

    Add the mashed dal and saute well till dal is thick. Switch off the stove

  4. 4

    Add grated coconut by squeezing it so that the coconut milk comes out. The coconut milk gives a creamy texture to the dal. Stir well

  5. 5

    Garnish with curry leaves and coriander leaves

  6. 6

    Serve hot with roti or rice
