  1. 3 cupswater
  2. 3 cupsmaize meal

  1. 1

    In a sufuria bring water to boil. Add the maize meal and stir with a mwiko.until the mixture is thick and smooth.

  2. 2

    Make sure it is not too stiff. Add boiling water if it is too thick.Gather the mixture in the middle of the pan and turn the heat to low.

  3. 3

    Cover the pan and leave it on low heat.for about 15 minutes turning after some time.

  4. 4

    Flip the ugali onto a plate and after it cools a bit cut it to the shape you desire or as common people do form it into cake.

  5. 5

    Serve with chicken stew or beef stew or even sour milk (maziwa mala)
