Mix the ground walnuts, sesame seeds, cinnamon, powdered sugar, and ground cloves together.

Brush a baking pan with melted butter. Layer 5 sheets of phyllo dough, brushing each with butter. Spread some of the filling over the phyllo. Continue layering phyllo and filling, brushing each sheet with butter, until all the phyllo is used, reserving 5 sheets for the top.

Pour the remaining melted butter over the top. Place the pan in the refrigerator for about 15 minutes. Cut into pieces, then bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (180°C) for about 35 minutes.

In a saucepan, combine all the syrup ingredients and stir.

Bring to a boil, then pour the hot syrup over the cooled baklava.
