Greek Village Salad (Horiatiki)
On August 2, 2016, I posted my first recipe on Cookpad! I think it was the first village salad I truly enjoyed!
Steps
- 1
Peel the onion, rinse it, slice it thinly, place it in a small bowl, drizzle with a little vinegar, and set aside while you prepare the other ingredients.
- 2
Wash all the other vegetables thoroughly.
- 3
Take a large salad bowl where you will add all the ingredients in the following order:
- 4
Take two of the tomatoes, set aside the ripest one, and cut the other two into thick slices.
- 5
Peel the cucumber and slice it without cutting it in half first.
- 6
Remove the seeds from the peppers, then slice them into rings and cut the rings in half.
- 7
Finely chop the parsley.
- 8
Drain the onion from the vinegar and add it to the salad bowl.
- 9
Add the salt. The amount depends on your taste. Add the salt before the feta cheese.
- 10
Cut the feta cheese into chunks and add it to the bowl.
- 11
Add the olives.
- 12
Sprinkle with a little oregano and thyme.
- 13
Now take the very ripe tomato you set aside, cut it in half, and squeeze it over the salad, just like you would squeeze a lemon.
- 14
Pour plenty of olive oil and the vinegar over the salad and toss everything together.
- 15
Enjoy! Don't forget to serve your salad with fresh bread! If it's homemade, even better!
