Preheat the oven to 350°F. Grease the pan with butter.

Cut the fruits into pieces.

Slice the apples thickly, leaving the skin on.

Sift the flour and baking powder together.

Beat the butter, sugar, and yogurt until soft and smooth.

Add the eggs one at a time, beating until combined. Add the vanilla, lemon zest, and lemon juice. Stir with a spatula. Gradually add the flour, folding it in gently with a spatula.

Pour the batter into the pan and smooth the top.

Arrange the apple and pineapple slices in a circle on top of the batter, without submerging them, so they can rise. Tip: Choose small apples to make two layers for a prettier cake.

Bake at 350°F for 60 minutes.

If the cake browns but is still wet, cover it with foil to prevent burning.

Test the cake with a toothpick; if it comes out clean, it's done. Remove the pan from the oven and let it cool completely. If using a removable pan, it's easy to release by opening the side latch. Do not invert the cake; let it cool naturally.
