This yummy, moist cake recipe is one my grandmother created during World War II when milk, butter, and eggs weren't as readily available.

The recipe will also make approximately 12 cupcakes.

Cake is shown without frosting but nearly any frosting will taste terrific with it!

Ingredients

30 mins
  1. 1 1/2 cupsflour
  2. 1 cupsugar
  3. 1 tsp.baking soda
  4. 1/2 tsp.salt
  5. 1 Tbsp.white vinegar
  6. 1/3 cupvegetable oil
  7. 1 tsp.vanilla extract
  8. 1 cupwater
  9. 1/4 cupcocoa

Cooking Instructions

30 mins
  1. 1

    Lightly grease an 8 inch square pan.

  2. 2

    Combine flour, sugar, baking soda, cocoa, and salt in mixing bowl.

  3. 3

    Add vinegar, oil, vanilla, and water and mix well.

  4. 4

    Bake at 350 degrees F for 30 minutes.
