Pastel - A Brazilian Dish Pastel - A Brazilian Dish
Pastel is a typical fast-food Brazilian snack which is something like an enlarged deep-fried gyoza dumpling!!! In fact, it is said that pastel originated when Japanese immigrants living in Santos adapted this dish. Any kind of filling goes well. A common pastel is filled with either cheese, ham, or ground meat, and then deep fried in vegetable oil.Hints for choosing ingredients: Use the freshest ground meat and parsley as possible. To bring out the flavor of the meat filling, be sure to season with coarsely ground black pepper! The key to making a pastel crunchy, is to flip it over a number of times while deep-frying, until it becomes evenly golden brown! I found "Easy Pasta" brand fresh pasta sheets at Costco. A Brazilian Dish, Bobó de Camarão A Brazilian Dish, Bobó de Camarão
This is an iconic dish from the Bahia region of Brazil.Use any size and amount of shrimp depending on your circumstances. Dendê oil is a must item! is what I'd like to say, but it's perfectly fine, even without it. While enjoying this dish the other day, I couldn't help but wonder, if I use nam pla instead of dendê oil, this dish might as well become a Thai dish! Recipe by Radorin cookpad.japan -
Coxinha (Brazilian Home Cooking) Coxinha (Brazilian Home Cooking)
Since the World Cup is going to be starting soon, I wanted to make some Brazilian food in honor of the Host Country.-Make sure to cook the potato mixture bit by bit in the microwave. The mixture may harden around the edges, so use a rubber spatula to mix it up until it's smooth. It should come together into a moist lump that doesn't stick to your hands.-Coxinha have a distinctive teardrop shape. Portuguese Rice Portuguese Rice
Every summer, my parents would take all of us up to Cape Cod for a few weeks. I love the food up there. Between all of the different fresh fish and the great Portuguese dishes, I am in heaven. One of my favorite places to eat is John's Foot Long in Provincetown.I am allergic to shellfish so I have never had it, but I heard that their lobster roll is one of the best. Judging by all of their other dishes, I would not doubt that. My favorite dish of theirs is their Portuguese Rice. I have been trying to find a similar recipe to theirs, but it is impossible. Along the way, I have combined a few recipes that I have found and came up with one that I like a lot.It is nothing similar to John's in taste, but it is still very, very good. Definitely worth the try. #mycookbookEnjoy! J.A.B.
