It is hard to find katsu sauce where we live so I just make my own. I have tried several recipes but this is the one that my family and I enjoy.

1/2 cupketchup
2 tbspsoy sauce
1/4 cupworcestershire sauce
1 tbspapple sauce
1/2 tbspdijon mustard
1 tspgarlic, minced
1 pinchground black pepper
1inch piece of ginger, large chopped
1juice of half a lemon
2 tbspbrown sugar

Combine all of the ingredients in a small sauce pan and simmer for 10 minutes.

Remove the pieces of ginger and spoon over your tonkatsu or chicken katsu and serve.
