Ingredients

  • 1Lamb shanks, or shoulder, cuts, or leftover leg
  • 1flour to coat, mixed with salt, pep, and garlic
  • 6cups Water
  • 6Beef bullion cubes
  • 1Onion, large chop
  • 3ribs Celery, sliced
  • 6Carrots, large chunks
  • 1tsps. each Rosemary, Thyme, Pepper, Oregano, Margoram, Garlic powder
  • 3/4cup raw Rice or Barley

Steps

  1. 1

    In fry pan add 1 tbs. Oil. Heat on high, add floured meat. Brown both sides. This may need to be done in 2 batches.

  2. 2

    In Crockpot, add water and beef cubes. Add vegs., and spices. Add meat, with drippings. Stir and cook 3 hrs. covered on High.

  3. 3

    Add raw rice. Stir.

  4. 4

    Cook additional hr., till rice is soft.

  5. 5

    Adjust seasonings and serve with biscuits or crusty bread.
