Ingredients

1 serving
  • 4 oz2% milk
  • 1/2 cupsharp cheddar cheese
  • 1/3 cupwhite rice
  • 1 tbspbutter
  • 1 tbspdijon mustard
  • 1/2 tbspworcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsphot sauce
  • 1/2 tspgarlic powder
  • 1/2 tspbasil
  • 1/4 tspcayenne pepper
  • 1/8 tspground black pepper
  • 1/8 tspsalt

    Bring pot of water to rolling boil. Add rice, cook for 15-20 minutes until rice is soft.

  2. 2

    In a small saucepan over medium heat, warm up milk. Add cheese and butter, cover, and stir occassionally. Let cheese melt and ingredients blend.

  3. 3

    Add mustard, salt, black pepper, cayenne pepper, worcestershire sauce, hot sauce, basil, and garlic. Blend together.

  4. 4

    Add flour to sauce, reduce heat to simmer, cover, and let thicken for 5-7 minutes. Stir often.

  5. 5

    When rice is done, remove from heat and drain excess water and plate. Remove sauce from stove top, pour over rice. Garnish with roasted red peppers if desired.
