This is a very famous snack in Brazil. You can use all sorts of stuffing. The original recipe is fried, but I baked it instead :)
Cooking Instructions
- 1
Mix the flour and salt
- 2
Add the oil, vinegar and the water (I use a mixer, but you can do it by hand, if you feel string enough :) )
- 3
If the dough gets too thick, add water. If it gets too sticky add flour. A little sticky is good. The dough should be smooth and light.
- 4
Spread flour to a working table and work on opening the dough using a dough roller
- 5
The dough should get as thin as possible. Try making it into long stripes about 4 inches wide
- 6
Stuff with chicken, meat, cheese, ham or whatever you want to add.
- 7
Close the dough using a fork
- 8
Fry it in very hot oil for about 1 to 2 minutes. (I tend to bake it. Its not the original way of doing it, but its healthier and easier :), bake it for 3 to 5 minutes at 400F)

Brazilian Pastel Brazilian Pastel
I learned this from someone who lived in Brazil. You don't have to use just meat or just cheese. The fillings are delicious when they're mixed up, too.Be sure to close up the edges. This is especially important if you add cheese as it will easily flow out.Try to fry it as soon as you can after wrapping them up. The longer you wait, the higher the chance that they will open up again. Recipe by Orenjiiro cookpad.japan -
Pastel - A Brazilian Dish Pastel - A Brazilian Dish
Pastel is a typical fast-food Brazilian snack which is something like an enlarged deep-fried gyoza dumpling!!! In fact, it is said that pastel originated when Japanese immigrants living in Santos adapted this dish. Any kind of filling goes well. A common pastel is filled with either cheese, ham, or ground meat, and then deep fried in vegetable oil.Hints for choosing ingredients: Use the freshest ground meat and parsley as possible. To bring out the flavor of the meat filling, be sure to season with coarsely ground black pepper! The key to making a pastel crunchy, is to flip it over a number of times while deep-frying, until it becomes evenly golden brown! I found "Easy Pasta" brand fresh pasta sheets at Costco. A Brazilian friend on a study abroad program taught me this recipe.I modified the recipe to match my palate, and to easily make them with readily available ingredients.Enjoy the authentic Brazilian taste! You can recreate an authentic pastel by using boiled eggs and green olives stuffed with pimento (red peppers). You could substitute green olives with capers. You'll have a generous amount of filling with this recipe. So if you end up with any leftovers, it will also be delicious mixed into spaghetti sauce. Indonesian Fried Pastry (Pastel Goreng) Indonesian Fried Pastry (Pastel Goreng)
#deepfried#pastryIn my country this fried pastry called “Pastel Goreng”Pastel goreng or fried puff pastry is one of the famous Indonesian snack. It’s a type of savory and deep fried snack. This fried pastry looks similar to an empanadas, Puerto Rican pasteles, English pasties, or Malaysian curry puff.Which makes it different maybe from the filling and taste.I like the Malaysian curry puff, but for me the Indonesian version of fried puff is much better. The filling is lighter then curry puffs because they don’t use too much herbs and spices on it. Also, you can use whatever you want for the filling. You can make it as a vegetarian or non-vegetarian. Most common filling in Indonesia is using vermicelli mixed vegetables and a sliced of hard boiled eggs. But of course you can put veggies and chicken or even only vegetables such as carrot, potatoes, celery and mixed it with vermicelli only without meat. This snack is good for family time, parties, snacking, or even for potluck ideas.Usually you can eat it as is, oralong with spicy peanut sauce or with a bite of fresh chili 🌶Well in this recipe, for the filling I use based of what I have in my fridge. So for the filling, it might be vary.Give it try, this fried pastry is really appetizing. So here is the recipe. Nia Hiura -

Rapid Pastry Dough Rapid Pastry Dough
I wanted to make a pastry dough with one block (200 g) of butter.Fold the dough rapidly so that the butter won't melt. I did it twice in 3 sets, but if it's taking too much time and hard to fold, chill the dough for a while in the refrigerator before continuing. Recipe by nyonta cookpad.japan -
