Ingredients

6 servings
  1. 1 cupalmonds, toasted and finely ground
  2. 2 2/3 cupflour
  3. 1 cupsugar
  4. 1 cupplus 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  5. 1 tspgrated lemon peel
  6. 1 pinchof salt
  7. 2 tbsplemon juice
  8. 1 tbspbrandy or amaretto

Steps

  1. 1

    Mix nuts, flour, and sugar.

  2. 2

    Using a pastry blender, work in the butter until the mixture forms uniform crumbs.

  3. 3

    Sprinkle lemon juice and amaretto or brandy over mixture and toss together lightly with a fork until blended.

  4. 4

    Mixture should be crumbly.

  5. 5

    Lightly spread mixture into a buttered and floured 12 inch round pan with 1 inch high sides.

  6. 6

    Do NOT press into the pan.

  7. 7

    Bake at 350°F until browned, 50 to 60 minutes.

  8. 8

    Let cool on a rack.

  9. 9

    Break into chunks before eating.

Some of my favorite things are family, friends, my pets, cooking, baking, football (Badger & Packer), Brewer baseball, college basketball, car racing, thrift stores, volunteering, and rummage sales. I have a 9 year old rescue dog, and 7 birds ( 6 are rescue) and they range in age from 1 year to over 19 years old. I volunteer for a dog rescue and a shelter, as well as other festivals and organizations.
