Combine the first eignt ingredients, set aside 1 teaspoon of the mix and then add the flour to remaining spice.

Sprinkle spices over chicken and brown chicken in the olive oil.

Remove from pan then add the shallots and cook until soft.

Stir in half cup of chicken broth and dates.

Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and return to pan. Cove and simmer 20-25 minutes or until chicken is cooked.

Combine 1 teaspoon of flour with reserved spice mix and the 2 tablespoons broth.

Remove chicken from pan and add flour mixture and cook until thickened. Stir in cilantro if using.
