Ingredients

8 servings
  1. 1 Kgchicken boneless or with bones
  2. 3/4 kgbasmati rice
  3. to taste whole spices (cinnamon,cloves,bay leaves,cardamom)
  4. 5-8slitted green chillies
  5. 1 cuponion paste
  6. 1 cupfried onions
  7. 2 tbspginger garlic paste
  8. 1/2 cupkhoya crumbled
  9. 1 cupyogurt
  10. 1 cupcashew paste
  11. 1 1/2 tbspblack pepper powder
  12. 1 tspgaram masala
  13. 2-3 threadsSafron
  14. as neededButter or ghee

Steps

  1. 1

    Boil the rice with some whole spices

  2. 2

    Cook till 3/4 done. Strain & keep aside

  3. 3

    Heat ghee add the left whole spices

  4. 4

    Add onion paste fry fr3 to 4 mins

  5. 5

    Add ginger garlic paste and some slitted green chillies

  6. 6

    Asaute fr some time. Add khoya cook till oil separates

  7. 7

    Add the yogurt mix well

  8. 8

    Add cashew paste fry fr few mins

  9. 9

    Add chicken fry fr 5 to 8 mins

  10. 10

    Add little water, salt,black pepper powder & garam masala

  11. 11

    Cook till chicken is tender

  12. 12

    When done add lemon juice & left green chillies

  13. 13

    Soak saffron in warm milk

  14. 14

    In a big pot spread rice at the bottom

  15. 15

    Spread the chicken gravy.

  16. 16

    Again spread rice,sprinkle saffron and fried onions

  17. 17

    Cover with aluminium foil

  18. 18

    Cook on medium flame fr 10 to 20 mins

  19. 19

    Serve hot with salad & raita
