Dal dhokli is delicious one pot dish. There are many variations of preparing this recipe of dal dhokli according to the taste and preferences of people. Here i'mein sharing my way of making dal dhokli
Steps
- 1
Wash and drain the dal, combine all the mentioned ingredients for making dal in a pressure cooker and cook it for 2 whistles.
- 2
Meanwhile, combine all the mentioned ingredients for making dhoklis and knead it into a semi-stiff dough, let it rest for 10 mins. Divide the dough into small portions and roll out each portion into a thin disc like chapati, using wheat flour. Cut each chapati into square or diamond shape and keep aside.
- 3
Now, add 2-3 cups of water in cooked dal and blend it well. When it comes to a boil, start adding dhoklis in this boiling dal and cover it with a lid and cook for 1 more whistle (usually i make dal dhokli like so when in hurry)
- 4
One more way is that, transfer cooked dal in a deep pan on the flame, add water, blend it and when it starts boiling, add dhoklis, and cook on low medium flame till the consistency of dal gets slightly thick and dhoklis cooked well, while stirring occassionally.
- 5
Meanwhile, for the tempering, heat ghee in a pan, add all the mentioned ingredients for tempering and saute for few seconds. Add this tempering to the dal, mix well and cook for more 4-5 mins.
- 6
While serving, drizzle some melted ghee and lemon juice on top, garnish with chopped coriander and finely chopped onion, serve immediately.
- 7
Note:-
- 8
Add the dhoklis in boiling dal otherwise they could stick and form a big lump.
- 9
Don't add dhoklis all at a time, add it one by one into the dal.
- 10
You can adjust the quantity of water according to the consistency you want.
- 11
It can be served with roasted papad on side, bt this delicious dal dhokli is capable of carrying entire meal on it's own,one wouldn't care for anything in acompaniment
