Steps

60 mins
  1. 1

You start out with the two French Bread loaves. You need to slice the bread in half from end to end, so that you have a top and bottom half. Think a large sub bun. You need to hull out the bread. Take a fork and slowly pull the inside of the loaves out. Be careful not to break through to the outside of the bread. You do not need to have it paper-thin either. The goal is to make a large hollow opening in the loaf. The bread you pulled out needs to be broken up into small pieces.

  2. 2

    Preheat oven to 375°F

  3. 3

Next, you need to brown the hamburger and the sausage. Pretend you are cooking tacos. You can brown the beef and the sausage together if you like. Once the meat is brown, make sure you have it chopped up in the small pieces and also make sure you drain it.

  4. 4

In a large bowl combine your bread pieces that you hulled out of the loves along with your browned hamburger and sausage plus the cheese. All of the cheese.

  5. 5

Stir all of it together or do as I do and use your hands to mix together.

  6. 6

You now need to add milk. The amount of milk you add will depend on how dry the bread is. Start out with 1-cup. The goal is to add just enough milk to get the bread mushy enough that everything sticks together.

  7. 7

Once your filling is mixed then you spoon the mixture into the bottom halves of the two bread loaves. Remember you have the top to cover it and you need to press it in. Make sure it is tightly packed.

  8. 8

Place the tops on the loaves and wrap each loaf tightly in aluminum foil. I prefer to double wrap them.

  9. 9

Stick them in the oven for one hour. You are basically melting all the cheese and heating everything together.

  10. 10

After the hour pull them out of the oven and let them sit for at least 30 mins.

  11. 11

Slice off a piece as thick as you want and chow down.
