Ingredients

  1. 1/3 cupbutter, softened, plus extra for greasing
  2. 1/2 cupsuperfine sugar
  3. 1grated lemon zest
  4. 1egg, lighty beaten
  5. 4 tbsplemon juice
  6. 2 1/2 cupall-purpose flour
  7. 1 tspbaking powder
  8. 1 tbspmilk
  9. 1confectioner's sugar, for dusting
  10. cupconfectioner's sugar

Cooking Instructions

    Preheat over to 325. Lightly grease several cookie sheets with a little butter or line with wax paper

    Cream together butter, sugar, and lemon zest , until pale & fluffy.

  3. 3

    Add egg & lemon juice, a little at a time, beating well after each addition.

    Strain flour & baking powder into creamed mixture. Blend together and add milk, mixing into a firm dough.

  5. 5

    Turn dough over onto a lightly floured surface and divide into about 50 equal-sized pieces.

  6. 6

    Roll each piece into a sausage shape with your hands and twist in the middle to make an "S" shape.

  7. 7

    Place cookies on prepared cookie sheets. Bake for 15-20 minutes. Let cook completely then dredge generously with confectioner's sugar before serving.
