Cooking Instructions

Mix starter and 1/2 C flour until smooth. Mix eggs, oil, sugar, salt, soda until we'll blended. Fold into dough and add warm milk if needed for right consistency.

Turn out onto 1 C flour and knead lightly until most of the flour is worked in and dough is soft. Place in greased bowl and turn to grease both sides. Cover with plastic wrap and let rise til doubled.

Turn out onto 1/2 C flour on board. Pat to 1/2" thickness. Cut and place on floured sheet to rise until doubled.

Fry in hot oil until golden brown, turning only once.

Glaze or toss in powdered sugar.

To make glaze, combine powdered sugar and orange juice. Drop doughnuts into glaze and turn once while still hot.

These are simply so good and just as delicious as fried doughnuts. This is a keeper for all your doughnut cravings and they go well with pretty much any toppings or stuffings. They do take a while to make as they are yeast doughnuts but they are more than worth it.If using active dry yeast, add to the wet ingredients and let sit for about 10 minutes before adding to the dry ingredients.Also, I made these in the evening so excuse me for the bad camera quality.
