Love this wonderful Chowder! I love to use Portobello mushrooms, myself. Tastes great on a cold winter day!
Cooking Instructions

Combine onion, garlic, potatoes, celery, salt n pepper, n reserve juice from clams.
- 2
Add enough water to cover veggies.cover, n bring 2 a boil.
- 3
Reduce heat & simmer 20 min. Add H&H & sugar.
- 4
In saucepan, heat butter, n stir in flour. Add this to soup, & stir well.

Then add clams, n season to taste!

I can make this dish quickly whenever I want with canned clams, so it is very easy and economical.You can taste the strong flavor of wine, so if you do not like wine, use less of it. Usually there are no carrots in New England Clam Chowder, but I used them since I prefer the taste. The soup will be delicious if you add other vegetables you like such as corn.
