Rinse the shrimp thoroughly.

Chop the onion and tomato. If using, dice the bell pepper and grate the carrot.

Add the shrimp to a pot with 1/2 cup water, salt, mixed spices, black pepper, cumin, onion powder, garlic, and the chopped vegetables.

Reduce the heat and simmer for about 10 minutes, until the shrimp turn orange.
