Soft delicious scones

Well, there are 2 versions 1 with Maas and these I made with only milk to make them affordable to my customers. I made these since 2016 winter and they were a hit at my work place. Since then every winter I am requested to make scones by my colleagues. And the bonus part.... I GET A LITTLE POCKET MONEY FOR THEM. I even get great feed back. Some say they enjoyed it with jam and butter. Some with cheese. They are really not sweet. And to date someone said they really went well with a cup of soup. So they are a versatile delight. I got the recipe from the internet and I twiged it here and there. So I really hope you enjoy them. I will be sharing the Maas scones soon as I make them. They are equally yummy! 😋

Steps

15 - 20 minutes
  1. 1

Preheat Oven @ 200°C. Grease your baking sheet.

  2. 2

Add all the dry ingredients together in a bowl and mix them.

  3. 3

Wisk the wet ingredients together. (milk and eggs)

  4. 4

Add the butterm/margarine and mix with the dry ingredients. Rub the flour mixture and butter together until it resembles breadcrumbs.

  5. 5

Make a well in the center of the mixed ingredients and pour mixed wet ingredients.

  6. 6

Mix the ingredients to make the dough. Do not overmix. If you over mix you will get chewy scones. So just leave it as it seems all the ingredients just mixed. Don't worry when you see bits of butter in the dough it's normal.

  7. 7

Sprinkle some flour on a clean surface where you will roll out the dough. Then scoop some dough and place is on the floured surface. I normally use my hands to spread the dough and flatten it to about 1cm thick. You can use a floured rolling pin.

  8. 8

Then use a good size cookie cutter, flour it also so that the dough does not stick to the cutter. Cut out you scones and align in the baking sheet or pan.

  9. 9

Place in the oven for 15 - 20 minutes. Or until they are a golden brown color.

  10. 10

Remove from oven, transfer to a cooling rack or enjoy while still warm with your tea or coffee.
