Jalebi
My whole family love this sweet dish and we always serve it as the sweet dish in our get together.
Steps
- 1
Take 1 cup of Maida,1 tbsp of chana flour,1 tsp Urad Flour,1 tsp curd, about 1/4 cup lukewarm water and make a dough of this ingredients a day before making the jalebis.
- 2
For the batter to rise it needs 10-12 hours.
- 3
The next day take 1 1/2 cups of sugar and make sugar syrup with 1/2 Cup Water. Now add some strands Saffron while the sugar syrup is being made and make the sugar syrup to 2 strings.
- 4
Keep aside the sugar syrup.
- 5
Now take the batter and add 2 pinches of Orange food colour and mix it with a Hand Mixy and make a smooth consistency batter.
- 6
Now pour all of it in a jalebi bottle and now take a a flat bottomed fry pan and you can put ghee if you want or you can use a mixture of half ghee and half oil but I use the half ghee half oil mixture.
- 7
If you don't have ghee you may use oil aswell
- 8
Now heat oil on a medium flame and take the bottle and make a spiral jalebi shape.
- 9
Now once it is fried and don't let it fry till it is burnt and let it fry till it's golden brown and then remove it and put it in a lukewarm sugar syrup. It should be a little warm.
- 10
Once you've made about 6 jalebis dip them in the sugar syrup and make other jalebis.
- 11
Once the jalebis being fried are done remove the ones dipped into the sugar syrup and take a plate with holes and put the jalebis in them to remove excess sugar syrup.
- 12
Now continue these steps and continue making them.As long as you have a good amount of batter in the bottle it will come out good and if there is less add more batter to it.
- 13
The batter should not be thin nor thick.
