Warm up the milk, do not boil, and then pour it into a big bowl.

Add in the yeast and then mix.

Add in 2 tbsp of the flour. Whisk it all together.

Then let it sit to raise and bubble for 10-15 minutes.

After the yeast is activated,warm up the butter and shortening in another bowl. Add the melted butter and shortening into the bowl with the activated yeast.

Add in the sugar, eggs, water, and vanilla. Mix well.

In a separate bowl, mix the salt and flour. Then add it to the yeast bowl one cup at a time. MAKE SURE TO ADD THE FLOUR AND SALT MIXTURE INTO THE YEAST BOWL ONE CUP AT A TIME. Salt kills the yeast.

Mix well until the dough becomes solid and soft and does not stick anywhere.

Put the dough aside. Cover it with a kitchen towel and let it rest for a minimum of 45 minutes and a maximum of 60 minutes. So basically let it rest for 45-60 minutes.

Sprinkle your kneading spot with flour and sprinkle your hands with flour, too.

Take out the dough and roll to about 1 inch thick. Cut with a donut cutter or you can use a lid to cut them into a round shape and use a smaller lid to cut the center hole.

Let it sit again for 15-20 minutes.

Preheat cooking oil in a pan.

While you are frying the donuts, lower the heat so it can be cooked evenly.

After you fried the donuts, put it in a strainer to drain out the excess oil.
